5 Top Tips for Technical Talks

RSVP using this link: https://goo.gl/forms/5hR8XZ6Omm0exCff1

At your time here both at UW and beyond, you will have to present your technical work. However, technical talks are often times overwhelming - and so we're here to help! We've invited Tia Over, Partner at The Matthews Group, to present her talk "5 Top Tips for Tech Talks". She presented a similar version of this talk at WE Local Portland, which we thought was absolutely fabulous, and so we invited her to present this talk to you all :)

Summary of Talk Topic
Top Tips for Tech Talks: Delivering an engaging and memorable presentation can be hard, especially when it’s a technical one. We’ll make it easier by covering 5 tips for doing it better – focusing on how to get your audience to join with you, choosing the right level of content, the power in “remove to improve” and nonverbal communication, and leaving your audience with an action plan.

Bio of Tia Over
Tia Over is a partner in The Mathews Group, a strategic communications agency helping business-minded engineers be better communicators. She has over 15 years of experience advising Fortune 500 clients, small businesses, non-profits and government. Her expertise lies in account management, strategic communications planning, internal communications and copy writing. Tia worked at NASA Headquarters public affairs in Washington, D.C., in the Return to Flight era following the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster, and managed an analyst relations program for Microsoft enterprise software at WE Communications. Today, Tia leads Mathews Group business development efforts and has helped grow the client roster that includes Honeywell, Lockheed Martin and Phillips 66 and University of Washington Continuum College. Internally, Tia leads efforts to ensure The Mathews Group remote team collaborates seamlessly around the globe.
